  • Hit By A Ghost

I swear that this is a completely true story of something that happened to me this morning.

It all began when I started my car this morning and realized my gas tank was almost on E.  Since I have a 35 mile commute to work, I figured I should fill up at my local gas station (Side note:  Gas was $1.999 a gallon!).  I put the gas pump in my car and jumped back in the car because it was super cold and windy (Yes, I know you're not supposed to do this, but I don't care.).  Not even 5 seconds after I closed the car door I hear a loud bang and notice that a red Ford F-150 is attached to the front passenger side of my car.

I looked over to see what the heck was with the driver of this vehicle to hit me in a gas station parking lot, and NO ONE WAS DRIVING THE TRUCK!  I got out of my car thinking that maybe someone had passed out and was lying in the front seat dead or something, and when I looked in the window I SAW NO ONE!

AN UNMANNED TRUCK HIT ME!!!  I'm looking around in shock and disbelief wondering what the heck just happened, and this guy comes out of the gas station to claim ownership of the ghost truck.  "I guess I must have left it in gear" was his explanation.  What?!  How are you able to get out of your car if it's in gear?  Maybe it was in neutral instead of park?  Who knows?  But because of the high wind, I guess it rolled the truck right into my RAV4.

Of course his truck has maybe a tiny scracth on it, but my car will need work.  And the kicker is that I just got my car out of the body shop maybe 2 weeks ago for another unfortunate incident (this one was my fault).

I am truly grateful that the truck hit the front passenger side, because Naomi was in the backseat on the passenger side.  She and I are both OK (although I might have a little whiplash).  Other than the major inconvenience of having to take my car in and get a rental for who knows how long, everyone is OK.

So I guess Naomi was in her 1st accident one day before her 1st birthday.  Oi!
